Our client processes thousands of invoices a year. For many of their smaller vendors, invoices are handled by hand with paper copies emailed or mailed in. At times the invoices do not match the given purchase order, resulting in payment delays and extra time and money to process each invoice.
We provided a web-based application that imported all of the data from the purchase order and allowed for changes between the vendor and the buyer to be approved before the invoice was generated. The application communicated back to their main system so that the data stayed in sync.
Anticipated savings in the first year are expected to exceed $100,000 with only 20% of vendors on board in the initial trial.
Our client manages large corporate events and needs a way to track attendees, no-shows and walk-ins. Pre-registered attendees have their information verified at sign-in; for everyone else the paper-form process is time consuming. Setting up events and attendees was done in an outdated web application with significant performance and functionality restrictions.
We developed a web-based system plus a mobile component that let meetings be set up easily using ready-made templates. The web system for configuring clients and events returned records in seconds instead of close to a minute.
The mobile application used tablets to enter event information from the event handler, check in attendees and handle walk-ins. A dashboard let management view all live events with attendee counts updating in real time, so decisions could be made in the field.
The web application was 90% faster than the previous version, attendees were checked in more than 50% faster, and post-meeting paperwork was eliminated. Staffing requirements for large events dropped by 25%.
Our client works with hospitals nationwide, collecting device usage data. Thousands of data points are collected every day at each of the 700+ hospitals they serve. Data at each hospital is reported locally, but there was no way to know device performance at a national level.
We worked closely with their IT department to gather data nationally. Data from each hospital was sent via secure transfer to a centralised location, loaded into a database, and pre-processed overnight to feed a reporting dashboard that highlighted device performance statistics.
The client gained near real-time performance statistics on their devices, enabling regional decisions on quality control and training initiatives.
Our client was building an e-commerce website and needed to handle over 50,000 SKUs in a way that let users search products, get detailed information and then purchase. The source data lived in a series of spreadsheets that made upkeep difficult and time consuming.
We developed a web-based interface that stored all data in a relational database accessible from any location. The spreadsheets were converted to a normalised structure, and the web application allowed easy data entry and edits. New product and market data was imported from structured files.

The reports indicate percentages of valid versus invalid tests and highlight problem areas by staff member or by meter. Results are automatically assimilated into a quick, easy-to-understand graphical trend report.
Reports confirmed accurate quality-assurance information and identified common problems in the system, which managers addressed through improved training. Certification tracking became easier, compliance was maintained continuously, and the reports saved staff two weeks of work every month.
When a business, bank or government entity needs to evaluate the value of a property, they go to a professional commercial appraiser. One of the main tools available is public tax information for land, buildings and residential property, updated weekly by local government. Our client needed to track that tax information alongside data gathered from site visits and compile it — with property history, descriptions and photographs — into a series of reports.
We developed a desktop application with fast, flexible search that enabled appraisers to save custom groups of properties for comparison. The system allows multiple photos to be saved against a single property and generates final reports automatically. A scheduler automatically downloads the weekly public tax file, then runs a series of calculations that produce a completed appraisal, emailed along with a count of updated properties.
Appraisers can produce accurate appraisals in a standard format quickly and easily, giving the client a competitive edge over other appraisal companies.
A specialist clinic needed to track patient medical records for multiple doctors, along with the ability to track patient symptoms and prescriptions and match that information with the correct medical code and diagnosis for insurance billing.
We developed a custom desktop application that displays patient information in an easy-to-read format. It included an online form allowing patients to enter their own personal information, saving significant time previously spent recording intake details. Each patient now has visit information stored in a database with a document backup.
The system enables fast, accurate data entry for nurses while the doctor is making an observation and diagnosis. Transcription time was reduced by 75%, decreasing contracted service hours and operational expenses.
Reporting on phone records for a large public agency was distributed as two large boxes of printouts plus a text file replicating the paper reports. The data contained multiple reports within the same file, with different headers, page headers, columns and data elements — and no obvious pattern.
We created a one-button solution driven by configuration files representing the trigger patterns for each report type in the data. The data was split into three separate tables that extracted values into analysable fields, then stored in a spreadsheet and database for analysis.

A public agency needed to track receivables and payables on hundreds of large-scale construction projects. These projects are subject to construction delays which greatly impact payment schedules. Since the total value of ongoing projects runs into the hundreds of millions, cash management has significant implications.
We implemented a linear regression predictive model to allow the agency to manage cash flow. Project data was imported and used to create an estimated payment schedule for all projects based on the previous three years of history, from which cash flow is predicted.
Cash flow predictions became far more accurate, and payment schedule creation was reduced from over 30 hours per month to less than 5 minutes.

We always get asked that question, so here is the answer.
Creating the name for a company is a lot harder than you would imagine. We wanted a name that would convey that we were a different kind of company — one whose personality and spirit would take some of the “work” out of working with a software development company. We needed a name people would remember and associate with a worthwhile experience.
We researched technology company names and nothing grabbed our attention. So we did what we do best: we built a database and an algorithm that put random words together to create a name. The database generated thousands of combinations, from which we chose a shortlist.
We asked everyone we knew to look at the shortlisted names and comment on each. Two weeks later we asked which name was their favourite. was the only one that people remembered. We knew that meant something — and the name was born.
